A collection of providers specializing in individualized and small group yoga for whole-person health and healing

What is Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of Yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship. Unlike a general yoga class, Yoga Therapy is a clinical, evidence-based intervention that utilizes the whole person (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) framework to address specific physical, mental, and emotional health conditions.

For Our Clients

For Our Clients: Your Path to Whole-Person Healing

You are more than a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. At the Durango Yoga Therapy Collective, we see you as a whole person—physical, emotional, and spiritual. Our certified practitioners provide individualized, non-pharmacological support tailored to your unique journey.

Yoga Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to give you the tools to reclaim your vitality. Whether you are navigating a medical condition or seeking deeper resilience, we offer specialized care in the following areas:

Neurological & Autoimmune Support:

Practical strategies to improve your quality of life while living with conditions like MS, Parkinson’s, or chronic fatigue. We focus on what you can do, helping you find comfort and capability.

Cancer Care Support

Compassionate, evidence-based tools to help you manage treatment side effects, reduce swelling (lymphedema), and find emotional stability through every stage of your recovery.

Addiction Recovery

Moving beyond "talk therapy" to address the physical roots of cravings. We help you steady your nervous system and build the internal strength needed for long-term healing.

Mental Health & Trauma

Learn how to "calm the storm" of anxiety, PTSD, or depression. We use gentle, body-based techniques to help you feel safe, grounded, and present in your own skin.

Youth & Adolescent Health:

Supportive tools for young people to navigate big emotions, build self-esteem, and find focus during the high-pressure years of growing up.

Grief & Loss Support:

Grief lives in the body. We use the gentle tools of yoga to help you carry the physical and emotional weight of loss, moving toward a place of peace and personal growth.

Women's Health

Expert guidance through the major transitions of a woman’s life—from puberty and pregnancy to the "Second Spring" of menopause.

Chronic Pain & Functional Movement:

Break the cycle of "bracing" against pain. We help you retrain your nervous system to move with more ease, less fear, and greater freedom in your daily life.

Process

Our Process

1

The Initial Intake & Assessment

We begin with a conversation. We look at your health history, lifestyle, and your primary goals—whether that is managing chronic pain, navigating grief, or recovering from a medical procedure. Using the whole-person approach, we assess how your condition is showing up not just in your muscles, but in your energy, your breath, and your emotional well-being.

2

Your Tailored Protocol

There is no "one-size-fits-all" in Yoga Therapy. Based on our assessment, your therapist will guide you through a gentle, accessible practice. This might include:

  • Breathwork: To calm or steady the nervous system.

  • Modified Movement: Using chairs, bolsters, or wall support to ensure you are comfortable and safe.

  • Mindful Awareness: Learning to "read" your body’s signals without judgment.

3

Tools for Daily Life

The real magic of Yoga Therapy happens between sessions. At the end of your visit, you will receive a simple "home practice"—perhaps a 5-minute breathing exercise or a specific movement—to help you integrate these changes into your daily routine.
